I reported on here yesterday that the Watchmen movie could be in serious jeopardy after a ruling by a judge in favor of 20th Century Fox regarding rights to the in-production movie. Now this news comes out: an attorney for 20th Century Fox reports that the studio will seek a court order to delay the release of the movie. The bad news is that a delay in release date, at this point, is looking like the best possible outcome. The worst? 20th Century Fox wins the rights to the movie and either shuts it down or changes it how they see fit. Keep in mind, Fox began production on a Watchmen movie in the late 80s but ended up shutting down production before it was finished. Sigh.
Oprah endorsed another book for her book club that was proven to be a hoax. This one was far worse than the other, “A Million Little Pieces”. It is about a man who, as a boy, was saved in a sub-camp of the Buchenwald concentration camp by a girl who threw him apples over the fence. Years later, the two met in New York City on a blind date and were married. Does anyone have any credibility anymore? The book is still up on Oprah’s website, days after the story was proven to be a hoax. Just another reason why I hate that fat cow. The link tells how the hoax was uncovered.
A judge has ruled in favor of 20th Century Fox in the case regarding which studio owns rights to produce and distribute the Watchmen movie. Warner Bros. was producing the film, so now they will have to work out an agreement or appeal with 20th Century Fox in order to release the film under their studio. If they can’t, <gasp> 20th Century Fox could be able to release the movie themselves and would likely ruin it.
